National Day 2010 - Queensway Junction Light Up (31 July 2010)

In celebration of the 47th National Day, MOVA Automotive was proud to be the main sponsor for the inaugural "Queensway Junction Light Up" from 31 July 2010 to 29 Aug 2010. Organized by the Queensway Citizens' Consultative Committee, the main objective of the event was to raise the profile and vibrancy of Queensway Junction, which has a high concentration of businesses located at Queensway Shopping Centre, IKEA (Alexandra), Anchor Point and Alexandra Village.

Aside from the street lightings, a night bazaar was also set up at the former SAFRA Building along Jalan Bukit Merah to add to the festivities of the occasion. A collection of stalls were assembled to recreate the ambience of a traditional pasar malam, a scene hardly witnessed in the urbanized, modern Singapore. Nightly performances including lion dance troops were also scheduled at the bazaar to entertain the onlookers whilst hawkers took to the streets to provide refreshments for the crowd.

Complementing the street lightings was the signature giant electronic billboard facing Queensway Junction. In conjunction with the Light Up, MOVA Automotive, alongside the other merchants, were given the opportunity to showcase their products and offerings on the billboard in appreciation of their sponsorship towards the event. During his opening address, Mr Baey thanked the organizing committee for its proactive efforts in actualizing the event. In particular, Mr Baey gave special accreditations to the chairman and CEO of MOVA Automotive, Mr and Mrs Yow, for their help and generosity in making the "Queensway Junction Light Up" a success.
